Each year, two deserving cadets from each of the three cadet forces are given the title of Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet. These cadets support the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire on official events and engagements, including Royal visits and ceremonial duties. Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets are selected for their outstanding service and dedication to their cadet force.
This year, one of 878’s very own cadets was chosen for the role. Cadet Sergeant Molly Ashby has been a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets for nearly four years, joining when she was just 14. She was officially appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Wiltshire on Monday 14th October during Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Awards evening.
Sgt Ashby said “I feel so happy, honoured and shocked about getting chosen for this. I’m so excited for what’s to come. My favourite thing about cadets is meeting lots of people and hearing all they have accomplished. I love all the community work we do as I feel proud to be doing something like that. And proud that I have a chance to do something that most young people won’t.”
